Leonor Fini

Leonor Fini was a surrealist painter. She was born in Argentina and at the age of 17 moved to Europe. During her career she became acquainted with a great numer of artists of the period, among them Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Henri Cartier-Bresson, who made some famous photos of her.
Fini was an extremely talented artist. Apart from painting, her interests included decoration and costume design for theaters, design of perfumes. A very eccentric personality, she rejected the idea of marriage and preferred to live with several people at the time. She is known for living in her Parisian apartment with an Italian diplomat, a Polish writer and 23 cats. The threesome and the cats remained together until the death of Fini in 1996.
